The LCSO is deeply committed to children and youth. We believe the work we do in concerts for grade school students is some of the most vital work we do. For 16 years, the LCSO has been reaching kids all over Lake County to rave reviews from educators. We pride ourselves on having many school teachers in the orchestra and private music teachers – including the maestro. We understand the essential value of what you do and we would be honored to be a part of that journey. We believe music can be a very powerful teaching tool and an enhancement to all the other disciplines you are teaching.
The Lake County Symphony Orchestra is happy to provide an entire day of Kids Concerts each year (typically the first Monday of October). School administrators and teachers can reach out for more information and to register for these special events by calling the office at 847-746-3472 or contacting Brandy Crawford at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The concerts are 45 minutes in length, kid-friendly with engaging dialogue from our maestro, and pointedly educational in every way. Oh – and quite entertaining as well! The recommended age is 3rd through 6th grade.
This Fall (October 2019) the concert was “Compose Yourself!” James Stephenson, Lake Forest resident and composer of this piece, narrated alongside the LCSO Musicians. Teachers and students found the program revealing, mind growing, and one to inspire kids to play musical instruments themselves - the purpose of our annual Kids Concerts.
We know the calendar gets busy – we hope to be a rich part of what you plan for the coming year! Once registrations are confirmed, educational packets will be sent. If you have any questions about future kids concerts, please do not hesitate to call the office at 847-746-3472 or Brandy Crawford at email@example.com.
