The LCSO is preparing to bring you our first Mahler Symphony. Austria's now infamous Gustav Mahler is heralded as a giant from the late Romantic period - a composer who is at once deeply passionate, spiritual, innovative, and known for a composition palette so expressive critics are lost for words. The size orchestra he uses is larger than normal with all manner of auxiliary winds, brass, and percussion and to match these extra sounds, more strings are needed. One need not know anything about him, have heard him before, or played him to be captivated by his heart, soul and mind in the music. Come experience the joy, power, romance, and intellect of one of the greatest composers ever to put pen to paper.
