Joining orchestras all over the world, the LCSO will begin its celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday with his Overture to Leonore #3. Next comes newly appointed brilliant principal tuba Joshua Sevigny in Vaughan Williams’ concerto for tuba and strings. Finally, composer in residence Charles Brown brings a massively expressive tone poem entitled “Poem for American Acrimony.” This concert has come to showcase the significant talent of the LCSO’s diverse blend of professionals, advanced students, and talented community artists. Few professional ensembles are as committed to that unique blend and the exciting opportunities it provides.
